OCD's Flavor Tripping event consists of both an informative presentation and a tasting party. During the presentation you will learn about the science of taste and smell, the phenomena of supertasters, and the miracle berry. Afterward a test will be administered to determine whether you are a supertaster. The tasting party begins with a selection of sour and bitter foods that will be sampled and noted. Then miracle berries will be consumed and the sampling will take place a second time. The sour and bitter foods will miraculously become sweet. The event ends with a light vegetarian dinner made from the foods used during the sampling. (Meal is vegan without cheese.) This class is particularly eventful since a paper was just approved this August 30, 2011 which claims to have discovered the mechanism behind the miracle berries effect on the taste buds.
